Hau’oli Makahiki Hou = HAPPY NEW YEAR!

One of my many resolutions for 2012 included starting a new, fresh, and hip to our world blog. Will and I living in Hawaii is truly a dream come true, and this amazing opportunity deserves its own new blog. 2012 is going to be a big year for us. Why???? I am not sure exactly, but I can feel that there are many things coming our way this year. I will be graduating from Cooley Law in a week, I am coaching girls b-ball at BYUH, and I am more tan that I have been in the last 5 years. Will is attending BYUH full-time, found out that he LOVES mountain biking, and is working with the Young Men's program at church. We are so excited to be able to head back to Michigan for my graduation and then to Utah for a couple days to visit the family.

ReAsonS wE LOVE HawAiI:
1. Weather....hello! 80 degrees everyday is perrrrfect for us!

2. WatEr eVerYwhere.....beaches, beaches, and more beaches. We are so excited this year to improve our water sports skills including surfing, body boarding, and snorkling. Some of our favorite beaches so far are: Sunset (breathtaking), Pipeline (incredible), and Turtle Bay (relaxing)!

3. Food.........Let's just say the eating in Hawaii is SCRUMPTIOUS!!! Will loves that every meal comes with some type of meat and rice. I am more into the PineaPPLe! YUMMY! Some of our favorite places to eat are: Kahuku Grill, Fishin' Tacos, Papa Ole's, Breakers, Dole Plantation, and Ted's Bakery.

4. Shave Ice....Let's be clear here...I was informed very quickly after moving to the island that it is NOT SNOW CONE!!! It's either Shave Ice or Ice Shave. Now when someone tells me with such passion and pizzaz that it's not a Snow Cone, I am totally fine with calling it Shave Ice. Regardless of the name, here on the island it's AMAZING. The flavor of the syrup is so good that if it was sold by the cases I would buy it and store it at my house and make homemade shave ice everyday. My favorite flavor is pineapple coconut. Will doesn't have a fav flavor...he tries and likes them all.

5. Bubba.....he's our "pet" frog. Technically he lives in the bushes outside our front door and only comes out after it has rained. I have nearly squashed him twice, which is hard to believe because he is huge, but when we would come home late at night, he would often be sitting right in the middle of our stairs. Luckily Will would spot him before I stepped right on him.

6. Mountain Biking.....Will has become quite the mountain biker and has found a good group of friends to ride with. I know that Will needed something to keep him busy besides school and the beach and this is it. I am thankful for mountain bikes because it makes my hubby happy!
